American lineups set for competitions in Finland, Sweden and Francerican wrestlers are set to compete in three tournaments in Europe in the two weekends after Thanksgiving.
Greco-Roman wrestlers from the U.S. will compete at the Vantaa Cup in Vantaa, Finland, on Nov. 24-25 and in the Haparanda Cup in Haparanda, Sweden, on Dec. 1-2.
Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers from the U.S. also will take part in the Henri Deglane International in Nice, France, on Nov. 23-24.
Four of the seven members of the 2007 World championship Greco-Roman team from the U.S. are expected to compete on the tour to Finland and Sweden.
Past World champion and 2007 World bronze medalist Dremiel Byers is expected to compete in both events as is past World bronze medalist Justin Ruiz.
2007 World silver medalist Brad Vering is scheduled to compete in Finland while 2007 World Team member Joe Betterman is set to compete in Sweden.
Three U.S. womens wrestlers, including past World champion Iris Smith and past World Team member Leigh Jaynes, also will make the trip to Vantaa and Haparanda. They will train in Finland and compete in Sweden.
The U.S. also is sending a strong group of wrestlers to France for the Henri Deglane event. The American freestyle team includes past World champion Bill Zadick and past World Team member Andy Hrovat. Three Greco-Roman wrestlers, including National Team member Mark Rial, also are scheduled to compete in France.
