RENO, Nev. – Central Michigan edged out Oklahoma State 132.5 to 131 to capture the team title at the 12th Annual Brute Reno Tournament of Champions, handing the Cowboys only its third runner-up finish in the tournament’s history.

The Chippawas sent five wrestlers to the finals with a commanding lead in the team race, but came away with zero champions, which allowed the Cowboys to chip away at the lead. Oregon State chipped in 96.5 points to finish third while Cal Poly and Purdue rounded out the top five with 95.5 and 88 points, respectively.

Purdue’s Jake Patacsil captured an individual title after cruising to an 11-0 major decision over Morgan Atkinson of Cal State Fullerton.

At 174, Ken Cook (UC Davis) was down 4-3 early in the second period to Brandon Sinnott (Central Michigan), but quickly erased the lead after hooking up a body lock for a five-point move. Sinnott couldn’t recover as Cook went on to defeat the Chippawa, 9-4.
