Fan Fest to provide entertainment alongside World Team Trials in Las Vegas, June 9-10

to all spectators who attend the 2007 USA Wrestling World Team Trials in Las Vegas, Nev. with be the Fan Fest, a full program of clinics and activities.

The U.S. World Team Trials will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, June 9 and 10. The best Olympic-caliber wrestlers in the international styles will be competing for coveted spots on the 2007 U.S. World Team that will compete in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In addition, the U.S. Grappling World Team Trials will be held, determining the athletes who may compete on the first U.S. team at the World Wrestling Games in Antalya, Turkey.

The Fan Fest is a vendor show specifically geared towards wrestling and mixed martial arts fans. The Fan Fest will be held during the breaks between the sessions of the Olympic wrestling styles, adjacent to the arena where the competition is being held.

Numerous clinics and presentations will be hosted on both days.

There will be five technique clinics during the weekend. On Saturday, Olympic freestyle silver medalist Jamill Kelly, Olympic Greco-Roman silver medalist Brandon Paulson, two-time freestyle Olympian Kerry McCoy and USOEC Greco-Roman head coach Ivan Ivanov will provide clinics. On Sunday, Olympians Lou Rosselli and Eric Guerrero will provide clinics.

Athletes and coaches from the International Fight League (IFL) will conduct demonstrations on both days. They will show some of the skills and tactics in Mixed Martial Arts competition. On Friday, Olympic silver medalist Matt Lindland, now an IFL coach and star within Mixed Martial Arts, will lead a one-hour demonstration along with other IFL athletes. On Sunday, another set of IFL athletes will participate in a half-hour demonstation.

Each day, wrestling journalists Scott Casber of Takedown Radio and Mike Finn of W.I.N. Magazine will provide a preview of the gold-medal finals later that evening.

A special panel of Div. I wrestling coaches from the nation’s top programs give a 90-minute presentation on numerous topics within wrestling. Featured are John Smith of Oklahoma State, Tom Brands of the Univ. of Iowa and Brian Smith from the Univ. of Missouri.

Numerous vendors will display their unique products, merchandise and services. All booths will be located next to the main arena and event entrance.
