WATERLOO, Iowa - The Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum is formally announcing its new marketing director. Kent Sesker, 40, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, began his duties on Monday, February 12.

"I´m thrilled to have the opportunity to help promote the great sport of wrestling from such a tremendous venue as the new museum," said Sesker. "I visited the museum several times when it was in Newton and it was impressive then, but the new facility honoring Dan Gable is incredible."

In his new role, Sesker will be responsible for bringing groups and individuals to tour the museum as well as attending wrestling events throughout the Midwest to help promote DGIWIM and its programs.

Sesker grew up in Tipton, Iowa, from the third grade through high school graduation and began wrestling competitively at age 9. A two-time state qualifier in high school, he was Tipton High School´s first state place winner in 1982, finishing 6th in Class 2A at 98 pounds. He has three brothers; Brian, Craig and Aaron, who all wrestled at Tipton as well. Sesker served in the Army for four years as a Personnel Management Specialist following high school.

He is currently in his 14th season as a wrestling official and will be working the Iowa State High School Tournament next week for the fourth time. He also has been officiating collegiate matches for 10 years and has worked seven national tournaments.

"Kent Sesker brings a wealth of wrestling knowledge and enthusiasm to his new position," said Mike Chapman, executive director. "He previously worked in sales and project management and believe he will help us take our message to the world-wide wrestling community. He will fit in perfectly with the rest of the staff."

The museum has expanded its outreach program with a new radio show, which airs every Wednesday at 6 p.m. on 1650 am out of Cedar Falls, and plans to attend over 30 major wrestling events around the nation this coming year. It co-hosts the WIN Memorabilia Show each year at the NCAA Division I tournament, along with WIN magazine. Last year, nearly 10,000 fans visited the three-day event. The museum is also developing an extensive video program that will be available to top-level subscribers all around the world.

The museum´s Grand Opening is this weekend, with five Olympic champions, former 14-term Congressman Jim Leach, and former WWE world heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar all scheduled to appear. For more information, contact the museum at 319-233-0745.
