Oklahoma State, Alamosa look to defend titles at 12th Annual Brute Reno Tournament of Champions

RENO, Nev. – Wrestlers from Coast to Coast will travel to Reno, Nev., December 20-22 to compete in the 12th Annual Brute Reno Tournament of Champions at the Downtown Convention Center.

Thousands of wrestlers have fought through muscle pains, heartaches, upsets, sickness, sweat and tears to become champions. The tournament highlights some of the best collegiate and high school wrestlers in the nation.

Dubbed the “Toughest Tournament in the USA,” the RTOC will feature some of the top athletes on the collegiate and high school level. The three-day event begins with the college tournament of the first day followed by two days with the prepsters.

“We are extremely excited about this year’s tournament,” said Ross Aguiar, president of RTOC. “The tournament will feature some of the best wrestlers, on both levels, in the country.

“This year’s location will give fans and competitors easier access from the hotel and will provide a more fan-friendly atmosphere,” said Aguiar.

This year, 29 universities will vie for the team title, including four-time defending NCAA Champion Oklahoma State. The Cowboys will look to win its fifth consecutive title and 10th overall. Nebraska and Missouri are the only other teams to win a team title.

Northwestern, Central Michigan and Cal Poly are among the teams that will look to knock off the Cowboys.

Ninety high schools including Easton (PA), Poway (CA) and Wasatch (UT) all look to capture the team title. Easton has won three team titles and will look to win its fourth tournament title this year, while Alamosa (CO) High School will look to defend its title from a year ago.

The college tournament begins at 9 a.m. (PST) on Dec. 20 inside the Downtown Convention Center.
