Ty Pelot named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for April 1-7

Wis./X-Factor Elite) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for April 1-7.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.

Pelot capped a superb weekend by capturing USA Wrestling’s Ultimate Dominator Award on April 6 at the ASICS Folkstyle Nationals in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Pelot also took home a gold medal by winning the Novice division at 60 pounds.

Pelot finished with 15,600 points to capture the Ultimate Dominator Award, which goes to the highest point scorer in USA Wrestling’s popular Ultimate Challenge Series. The series is now in its sixth season.

Pelot was the highest point scorer in Division 3 of the Ultimate Challenge Series.

Pelot is a seven-time USA Wrestling All-American and a four-time Wisconsin age-group state champion.
