U.S. falls to South Korea, places sixth at World Cup in Greco-Roman wrestling

- The United States Greco-Roman Team fell to South Korea 4-3 on Friday in the fifth-place match at the 2008 World Cup.

Americans Brad Vering (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC), Adam Wheeler (Colorado Springs, Colo./Gator WC) and Dremiel Byers (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) earned wins for the American squad against South Korea.

The U.S. finished 0-3 in the event after dropping duals to Hungary and Iran on Thursday. The Americans were without World Team members Justin Ruiz, T.C. Dantzler and Joe Betterman, who are competing in the Pan American Championships this weekend. Two-time World bronze medalist Harry Lester also did not compete at the World Cup.

Russia beat Hungary 5-2 in the finals. Iran downed Georgia 5-2 in the third-place match.
